· RII40720 Certificate IV in Civil Construction - Supervision (18-month Traineeship)
· RII30920 Certificate III in Civil Construction - General (36-month Apprenticeship)
· RII30820 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations (36-month Apprenticeship)

· Identify as a woman who has left school.
· Enrolled or enrolling in one of the eligible qualifications with Civil Train WA.
· Be a Western Australian resident and an Australian Citizen; or
· Be a permanent visa holder or holder of an eligible visa sub-class as outlined in the Department's VET Fees and Charges Policy 2023.
· Commenced training between 1 January 2024 and 12 August 2024.
· Not receiving another scholarship for their course of study.

· Must have commenced or be commencing an eligible traineeship or apprenticeship with Civil Train from 1 January 2024.
· Up to 5 places available.
· A $5,000 scholarship for the successful applicant.
· The payment will cover training costs or other associated expenses to support participants through their studies.
· In addition to the scholarship money, the successful applicant will receive tailored mentoring during their studies.

Applications open on 1 July 2024 with a deadline for all applicants by COB 12 August 2024.

Applications will be evaluated based on the quality of their responses to the following written questions:
· Describe your career goals and aspirations.
· What are the main reason(s) that you are applying for the scholarship?
· If successful, what would you use the scholarship money for?

After the formal evaluation process, shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an informal interview. Notification of the outcomes, whether successful or not, will be provided to all applicants after the evaluation process. All applications must be submitted by COB 12 August 2024.

· After submitting your application form, you will receive an email from Civil Train WA confirming receipt.
· All applications will be reviewed after the closing deadline on 12 August 2024.
· Shortlisted candidates will be contacted directly by Civil Train WA with information on the next steps.
· All applicants, whether successful or not, will be notified in writing.
· Applications will be assessed after the closing deadline; please allow up to 4 weeks to be advised of application outcomes.
· Scholarship funds will be available to recipients after their census date has passed (3 months after enrolment for traineeships, 6 months after enrolment for apprenticeships).

Civil Train WA will provide the scholarship funding to successful applicants. Scholarship recipients will receive a one-off payment following successful enrolment and continuation of training past the withdrawal/census period stipulated by the College.
Scholarship recipients can use the funding to cover:
· Student fees
· Learning resources
· Mentoring and/or coaching
· Transport and accommodation
· Childcare
· Tools, work clothes, and personal protective equipment
· Laptops/tablets
· Additional courses, workshops, and seminars
· Work tickets and licenses

Civil Train will allocate an appropriate mentor to provide a minimum of two face-to-face mentoring visits to the apprentice or trainee at their training location, or another suitable location within the first four months of their apprenticeship.

Establish preferred communication methods with each apprentice or trainee.

Maintain a minimum of one mentoring contact per quarter with the apprentice or trainee via their preferred contact method.
Provide guidance to apprentices or trainees as needed or refer them to suitable support services, such as:
· Mental health services (e.g., Headspace or MATES in Construction)
· Coping with work-related anxiety and stress, financial concerns, family responsibilities, off-the-job training, and social life
· Navigating a male-dominated work environment
· Addressing issues of bullying, harassment, or discrimination
· Physical health and fitness, including wellness, physical demands of the role, diet, and exercise.
· Overcoming language or learning barriers, including returning to study
· Inclusion, beliefs/values, and self-identity
· Career opportunities and career progression pathways
