Pre-excavation management around subsurface utilities. Four hour training course

Course Overview

This course covers the requirements and regulatory obligations of locating and identifying subsurface utilities for Site Managers, HSE Managers Supervisors and Leading Hands on construction sites where excavation work is proposed to be carried out.

The course will inform participants of their legislative obligations and will introduce techniques and procedures that will enable the participant to make informed judgement before excavating around subsurface utilities.

Course Outcomes

  • The objectives of the course are to:
  • Provide information on recent changes to workplace safety legislation
  • Raise awareness of the process required to locate subsurface utilities
  • Applying Australian Standard 5488 quality levels to reduce the possibility of damage and additional cost
  • Provide suggested control measures to reducet he risk of damages and injury
  • On successful completition of this course, a Certificate of Completion is awarded

Course Duration

This course is four (4) hours.

Entry Requirements

ALL LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION UPON ARRIVING FOR THEIR COURSE.

Delivery & Assessment

This course is delivered and assessed face to face.

There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.

Courses are scheduled at Civil Train facilities in Thebarton South Australia.

Personal Protective Equipment

Long pants and a long-sleeved shirt, safety boots and hi-vis is required for the practical component of this course. Other sites may have other requirements which will be confirmed at the time of booking. Failure to wear correct PPE may prevent the participant from completing the practical training and/or assessment.
