Course Overview

EWPs are powered mobile plant designed to lift or lower people and equipment to a work location, by means of a telescoping device or articulated device, beyond a base support.

This course trains and assesses in the operation of a scissor type lift (unrestricted height) and boom lift (below 11m height).

This course satisfies the SafeWork SA minimum training requirements expected for workers who operate EWPs in accordance with the person conducting a business or undertaking’s (PCBU) primary duty of care under the Work Health and Safety Act 2012.

Course Outcomes

  • On completion of the course you will be able to:
  • Plan and prepare for operating an elevating work platform
  • Conduct work activities from elevating work platform
  • Carry out operator maintenance
  • Clean up
  • If successful you will receive a Statement of Attainment and an a wallet card which will identify whether you were assessed on Scissor lift or Boom lift.

This course is one (1) day.

Entry Requirements

ALL LEARNERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PHOTOGRAPHIC IDENTIFICATION UPON ARRIVING FOR THEIR COURSE

Entrants will need a level of language and literacy skills to enable them to meet the requirements of the course.

The applicant must be able to use the English language at a level that is appropriate for the safe use and operation of the particular class of equipment, including
• using a range of communication techniques and equipment to coordinate activities with others
• maintaining written and verbal reporting requirements and procedures

Learners will need to able to work at height.

Delivery & Assessment

This course is delivered and assessed face to face.
There are theory, practical training and assessment components to the course.

Location

Public courses are scheduled frequently in Adelaide.
This course can also be delivered regionally – please contact the office for regional locations and dates.

Personal Protective Equipment

Enclosed, safety footwear, long pants and long- sleeved shirts with hi-vis are required. Other sites may have other requirements which will be confirmed at the time of booking. Failure to wear correct PPE may prevent the participant from completing the practical training and/or assessment.
