Are you working on a civil construction project where your activities are likely to impact on the environment?

Course Overview

This course provides construction workers with the knowledge to identify environmental issues associated with their activities and best practice methods to minimise environmental impact and outline environmental legal obligations relevant to construction activities.

Civil Train SA engages the specialist services of AECOM to deliver this training.

This is an approved DPIT course and is based on the DPIT workbook ‘Environmental Awareness for Civil Construction Projects.’ It is a requirement for DPTI contracts for at least 2 people on site to have undertaken this training.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Understand common environmental terms
  • State legal obligations and responsibilities in relation to environmental management
  • Recognise common environmental impacts on construction sites and potential impacts resulting from work activities
  • Identify accepted current environmental management best practices for relevant workplace activities
  • Identify situations which require further advice about appropriate work practices to minimise environmental damage

Upon completion you will receive a Statement of Attendance.

    Course Duration

    This course is one day (8 hours).

    Entry Requirements

    All learners must be 16 years or older and will be required to provide photographic identification upon arriving for their course.

    • In South Australia a child of compulsory school age (between 6-16 years of age) cannot be employed during the hours that they are required to attend school or participate in an approved training program.
    • If you are under 16 years of age, you can still apply for Civil Train SA courses, but you will need to talk to your School’s principal to discuss your exemption. The principal will provide you with the appropriate exemption application form and tell you what evidence or documentation is required.

    Please note: Civil Train only carries out training in English.  If English is your second language, you may engage a professional (accredited) and independent translator at your cost, for training purposes only.  There is no assessment required for this course.

    This course is non-accredited and delivered face to face.

    Public courses are scheduled frequently at Civil Train SA offices in Thebarton.
