Course Overview

Any infrastructure development involving water, soil, or transportation falls under civil construction, making the Introduction to Civil Construction skill set a crucial first step on your professional journey. This course is designed to provide hands-on experience with civil construction projects, helping you develop practical skills and gain industry-specific knowledge as you complete your training.

Course Outcomes

The following units of competency provide credit towards a RII20720 Certificate II in Civil Construction qualification and other qualifications that allow for selection of these units.

  • RIIBEF201E         Plan and organise work
  • RIICCM207E       Spread and compact materials manually
  • RIISAM203E       Use hand and power tools
  • RIIWHS201E      Work safely and follow WHS policies and procedures
  • RIICCM205F       Carry out manual excavation

Upon successful completion of this course you will receive a Statement of Attainment.

    Course Duration

    2 weeks (Monday to Friday)

    8.00am to 4.00pm

    Entry Requirements

    Entrants will need a level of language and literacy skills to enable them to meet the requirements of the course.

    • Civil Train only carries out assessments in English. The applicant must be able to use the English language at a level that is appropriate for the safe use and operation of the particular class of equipment. As an example, the applicant must be able to read and comprehend hazard warning signs, load charts, data plates and any other safe operating requirement. The applicant must be able to communicate this information to the registered assessor.
    • Learner will undertake an Upfront Assessment of Needs (UAN) Language, Literacy and Numeracy test.

    All Participants must:

    • reside or work in South Australia;
      and
      • be an Australian or New Zealand citizen; or
      • be a permanent Australian resident; or
      • hold a State sponsored visa on a pathway to permanent residency; or
      • hold a humanitarian temporary visa of a class specified by the Minister from time to time;
      and are
      • not enrolled in school, and aged 16 years or over; or
      • enrolled in school, undertaking training through identified subsidised arrangements (such as VET for School Students), and
      – in Year 10 or above, and undertaking training as an apprentice or trainee through a Training Contract that combines VET and school-based curriculum (including SACE); or
      –  in Year 11 or above, aged 16 years or over or turning 16 in the current year of enrolment, undertaking full time SACE or equivalent, and have completed a relevant preparatory VET Pathway.

    Delivery & Assessment

    This course is delivered and assessed face to face.

    There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.

    • $250.00

    For those not eligible a fee for service fee will be invoiced for:

    • $2200.00
