Underground pipes and cables carry vital services such as water, electricity, communications and gas. It is essential to identify existing underground services prior to commencing a job to save time and ensure a safe work environment.
Identifying and locating underground services requires the work to be well planned and safely carried out according to site procedures and State or Territory legislative requirements, including obtaining necessary permits, approvals and DBYD plans.
Safety is of prime concern to all working in identifying and locating underground services. Workers must at all times during operations be aware of their responsibilities for worker safety and to protect the environment.
On completion of the course you will be able to:
Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a Statement of Attainment.
This course is one day (8 hours).
All learners must be 16 years or older and will be required to provide photographic identification upon arriving for their course.
As part of your course enrolment at Civil Train there is a requirement that you complete a short online quiz. This will assist Civil Train to understand your current levels of language, literacy and numeracy (LLN), to ensure you are at the appropriate level to successfully complete your selected training course. This is a one-time quiz and results will be saved to your learner file and referred to for all future enrolments.

Please note: Civil Train only carries out assessments in English. If English is your second language, you may engage a professional (accredited) and independent translator at your cost, for training purposes only. However, you will be required to undertake the assessment in English without the aid of your translator.
This course is delivered and assessed face to face.
There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.
Public courses are scheduled frequently in Adelaide, Perth and Alice Springs.
This course can also be delivered regionally – please contact the office for regional locations and dates.
Civil Train can come to your worksite to deliver training to a group of employees – please contact the office for a quote.
