**These units are available when assessed in conjunction with an appropriate industry expert, provided by the employer. The industry expert must hold the relevant vocational competencies and have current industry skills directly relevant to the training and assessment being provided and must work alongside a trainer and/or assessor to conduct the assessment. This means the industry subject matter expert should hold the unit being assessed (or an equivalent unit), and must also demonstrate skills and knowledge from the minimum 5 years of current work experience after competency has been obtained.
Learners must be able to have regular and consistent on-the-job access to the tasks of the units selected.
Other electives may be offered, in accordance with the packaging rules. Please discuss with a Civil Train representative if you would like to discuss electives not identified on this course page.
This qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator working in civil construction, who applies a broad range of skills in a varied work context, using some discretion and judgement and relevant theoretical knowledge.
This program is offered as a 36 month apprenticeship (WA) or 36 month Contract of Training (SA). Formal training may be completed in a shorter amount of time.
There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.
Skills will be trained and assessed through a mixture of off-the-job and on-the-job training and assessment.
You may be able to seek recognition for your previous studies or experience. Civil Train offers Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) and Credit Transfer (CT) for this qualification.
Credit transfer involves assessing a previously completed course or subject to see if it provides equivalent learning or competency outcomes to those required within the current course of study.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Recognition of Current Competency (RCC) provides students with an opportunity to have their current skills and competencies recognised.
These skills and competencies may relate to units that they are about to commence and as a result may exempt them from studying these units.
Apprenticeship subsidies are supported by Government of South Australia.
Please refer to our Fees Schedule for current fees and subsidies.
Please refer to our Fees and Refunds Policy for terms and conditions.
