Are you working on a civil construction site where you are required to have a supervisory understanding and application of the WHS laws?

Course Overview

This course is designed for employees who are required to oversee/monitor the safety of workers on a work site.

This course uses case studies to take participants through the complexities of the WHS laws to identify and understand WHS obligations and responsibilities (duty of care), enabling employers and employees to develop the skills and knowledge to.

Course Outcomes

On completion of the course you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate an understanding of WHS issues
  • Identify the legal requirements for employers and managers
  • Establish representation in the workplace
  • Explain the relationship between management system failures and the immediate causes of accidents
  • Demonstrate how to identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace and identify means of controlling risks using the hierarchy of controls

Upon completion you will receive a Statement of Attendance.

    Course Duration

    This course is two days (16 hours).

    Entry Requirements

    All learners must be 16 years or older and will be required to provide photographic identification upon arriving for their course.

    • In South Australia a child of compulsory school age (between 6-16 years of age) cannot be employed during the hours that they are required to attend school or participate in an approved training program.
    • If you are under 16 years of age, you can still apply for Civil Train SA courses, but you will need to talk to your School’s principal to discuss your exemption. The principal will provide you with the appropriate exemption application form and tell you what evidence or documentation is required.

    Please note: Civil Train only carries out training in English.  If English is your second language, you may engage a professional (accredited) and independent translator at your cost, for training purposes only.  There is no assessment required for this course.

    Delivery & Assessment

    This course is delivered and assessed face to face.

    There are theory and practical training and assessment components to the course.
