Traineeships

In Western Australia we deliver Civil Construction Qualifications through a structured workplace traineeship program. To undertake a civil construction traineeship, you must be employed within the industry, undertaking tasks within the chosen qualification.

Construction Training Fund

The Construction Training Fund provides grants of up to $16k to employers who register a new or existing Apprentice or Trainee under a Training Contract within Western Australia.

  • RII20715 Certificate II in Civil Construction Base Grant of $4k plus bonuses up to 8k depending on eligibility
  • RII30815 Certificate III in Civil Construction Plant Operations Base Grant of $8k plus bonuses up to 16k depending on eligibility
  • RII30919 Certificate III in Civil Construction General Base Grant of $8k plus bonuses up to 16k depending on eligibility
  • RII30919 Certificate III in Civil Construction Pipe Laying Base Grant of $8k plus bonuses up to 16k depending on eligibility
  • RII30919 Certificate III in Civil Construction Road Construction and Maintenance Base Grant of $8k plus bonuses up to 16k depending on eligibility
  • RII40715 Certificate IV in Civil Construction Supervision Base Grant of $8k plus bonuses up to 16k depending on eligibility

Federal Government Incentives

Federal Government Incentives may be available to employers who register new workers (employed less than 3 months full time or 12 months part time) of up to $4000 upon successful completion of a Certificate III or Certificate IV Traineeship. Eligibility for this incentive is assessed by an Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) provider and is determined at the time the trainee is registered.

There are three AASN providers in Western Australia who provide a free service to sign and register your trainees with the Apprenticeship Office.

State Government Incentives

The Jobs and skills WA Employer Incentive is available to employers of new entrant trainees registered after July 2019. Incentives of up to $4,250 are available to eligible employers.

Short Course Rebates

The Construction Training Fund Supplementary Skills Program provides support for eligible people working in the building and construction industry across a range of approved short training courses.

Subsidies of up to 80% are available to help reduce training costs for the development and enhancement of the skills required by a growing, contemporary industry.

The Construction Training Fund provides funding support for training of eligible workers in the construction industry. We acknowledge the support of the Construction Training Fund in reducing the costs of training for eligible workers.
